Advantages of the New Larsen Trap
Crows & magpies are known to be intelligent, quick to learn, and often become suspicious of ordinary cage traps.
Conventional Larsen traps usually have a decoy compartment and one or more catching compartments. The catching compartments may have a top entrance for magpies or a side entrance for crows.
The New Larsen trap comprises a separate decoy cage and separate catching cage clam traps. Each catching clam trap has the benefit of two side entrances and one top entrance or they can be set sideways with an open front and open top.
The Elgeeco clam action catching cages can be positioned in numerous configurations around the decoy cage or they can be employed separately in different locations with more chances of catching. They are also considerably more portable and less likely to be seen and stolen than an ordinary single structure Larsen traps.
The superior effectiveness of the New Larsen trap is due to the open top and sides of the separate clam catching cages. Birds are more likely to enter the Elgeeco trap because they think they can hop on and off the perch and leave through the open top or the opposite open side.
Single structure Larsen traps are often prematurely triggered by the movements of the captive decoy bird. Because the New Larsen trap has separate clam catching cages, this problem cannot occur.
Animal welfare is also improved because captured birds are apart and conflict between birds in adjacent compartments is removed.
